Here’s why: The average AT&T smart-phone data user consumed nearly 600 megabytes per month in the fourth quarter of last year, according to a study of 9,114 AT&T bills by Validas , an automated wireless-bill analysis and reduction service. The average user probably already buys the 2GB plan for $25, and the new 3GB-for-$30 plan provides an additional gigabyte of unneeded data.
