Although the Google TV platform—which uses the Android operating system and Google's Chrome browser—hasn't met with much success, LG will try to change that situation with a new G2 series of 3D LCD TVs that will be available later this month. The company is showing the TVs now at the Internet Week conference in New York. Initially, there will be two models: a 47-inch set for $1,700 and a 55-inch set that will sell for $2,300

The Nokia Lumia 900, one of the first Windows phones to run on both of AT&T's high-speed networks (the 4G LTE as well as HSPA+ 4G networks), is the best Windows phone he's seen so far, said Consumer Reports senior editor Mike Gikas after trying out a review sample of the phone. Mike visited Dave Graveline at the Into Tomorrow radio show to elaborate on the pluses (as well as a few negatives) of this new phone. Listen to our Sound Byte podcast for details

Here at CTIA in New Orleans, I had the chance to get up close and personal with the Samsung Galaxy S III, easily the most anticipated Android phone this year thanks to its 1.4 quad-core processor, a giant 4.8-inch HD Super Amoled display, and an intriguing mix of gesture- and sensor-based tools that make the phone very intuitive. The Galaxy S III, which weighs 133 grams and measures 136.6 by 70.6 by 8.6 mm, was quite comfortable to hold.

The HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE is one of the higher-profile phones launched at CTIA. But I was underwhelmed by this new Verizon offering during a brief hands-on opportunity here at CTIA . On the positive side, I do appreciate that this phone has the ability to run on Verizon's ultra-fast data network, and the 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor seemed to help the phone to be fairly responsive

PayPass Wallet will work with smart phones that support wireless NFC (near-field communication) technology as well as other tablets and computing devices, to pay for products and services at store registers or over the Internet. On a smart phone, tablet, or other NFC-equipped device, you'll be able to pay for items at the checkout counter by "bumping" your device against a terminal

"Privacy and cybersecurity are not well understood by the news media or politicians," declared Craig Newmark (founder of Craigslist and a CR board member), who keynoted a panel discussion hosted by Consumer Reports at New York University last night: "Facebook and your privacy: What Every Consumer Should Know in the Age of Social Networking." There are real problems," noted Newmark, adding that "the Internet has no lobby." He pledged to take a more active role on behalf of consumers. "A nerd's gotta do what a nerd's gotta do," he said. Following on the heels of Consumer Reports' recent " Facebook and your privacy " story, the panel included a diverse group of speakers from both business and consumer advocacy
