Barnes & Noble today heated up the tablet computer market by introducing a new $199 version of its Nook Tablet and cutting the price of the tablet-like Nook Color e-reader to $169. The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s first Twitter chat tomorrow at 7 p.m. ET will be about simple, inexpensive ways you can childproof your televisions and furniture to help prevent child injury and death from tip-overs. During the Thursday evening chat, the CPSC will ask parents to post photos of TV setups so that safety experts can examine the pictures and give practical safety tips.

As a temporary precaution, Google has disabled the prepaid credit card feature from its Android digital-payment app, Google Wallet, after two different reports of security vulnerabilities. The Google Wallet app lets you pay for things by tapping or swiping your phone at a store’s checkout terminal via NFC (near-field communication) technology. You can attach a prepaid credit card to the app, as well as several gift cards or a Citi MasterCard.
